The attendance at the various sessions yesterday, which concluded the co'-npotitive portion of the Mas tor ton Musieil and Elocutionary festival for 15)1.3, was very large, the Town Hall •being prowded both in the yftemoon •vii d evening. The decisions of the judges were again well received, and the greatest interest was manifested in tlie various events. The results were as follow: PIANO SOI/), any age.—

Other competitors were: Sl-even Bishop, Reuben MoMaster, E. Pryor and Maurioe Hausmann. Hie piece selected by Master Sutherland was entitled "The Tale of a Stamp," and by Master Power, "Seeing Things." Master Williams gave a pretty parody on teh test piece, "Butterflies." These were the only competitors. The effort of Miss Sutherland was very pleasing. '

The only other competitor was Mr F. G. Moore. The interpretation of the piece by Mr Aitken was particularly clever.

ACTION SONG, infants. Lansdowne School, first and second^ The judge spoke Very highly of the work of the whole of the squads, five of which were present from Lansdowne. He isaid they would compare favourably witlh anything at Auckland or Wellington. READING AT SIGHT, lady or gentleman. Miss l|fellie Hogg, 145 marks 1 Mr KSE. Shorney, 137 marks 2 Miss Madge Townsend, 131 (marks 3 Other competitors were Misses B. Johnston and Lulu Arnold, Mrs Iveson, and Messrs A. L. Tressider, C. H. Hobbs and W. J. Morris. Miss Hogg's reading was splendid, and she won easily.
PIANO SOLO, any age. Misa Phyllis Hanify (Wellington) 2 This was the only competitor. Miss Hanify gave a very nice rendering of her piece.
HUMOROUS RECITATION, gentlemen. K. E. Shorney (Wellington) 2 A. L. Tressider (Masterton) 3 Other competitors were Messrs F.
G. Moore, Norman Aitken, and 0. H. Hobbs. The judge did not consider eitlher of the items were sufficiently meritorious to warrant tlie .'allocation of a first prize. The element of humour was sadly lacking. SIGHT SINGING, lady or gentleman. Edward L. Lees (Lower Hutt) ... 1 The only competitor. PREPARED SPEECH. (Subject, "Compulsory Military Training in Ner/ Zealand.") Mrs J. Cairns (Masterton) 2 Mr A. Rippon wag the only other competitor. The judge did not consider that either contribution was worthy of a first prize.
