Tho Masterton Musical and Elocutionary Society's competitions were continued yesterday morning, afternoon and evening, the attendance at c ,di session being large. The results of the morning and aiternoon contests were as follow: —
PIAiXO SOLO, pupils under 12 years. (Test, "The Organ Grinder.") Enid Pragnell (Masterton) 130 marks V Elsie Caldwell (Masterton) 126 ... 2 E. Watson (Masterton) 3 Also competed: Misses Chisholoi, Dorothy Lee, Elsie Jones, and Rita Smith.* The performance of Miss •Pragnell was particularly good. IRISH SONG (lady or man).— Recalls. Messrs P. H. Davie, S. Prime, E. L. Lees. ■ Highly commended: Mr R. H. Fisher. The other competitors were: Miss K. G. Miller, Mr C. F. Red-nan, Mr W. Tamihaaa, „and Mir F. T. C. Hubbard.
VIOLIN SOLO, pupils under 16 years("Simple Aveu"). Miss 0. Eddy (Napier) 131 marks 1 D. Wood (Masterton), 123 2 B. Norman (Masterton) 102 3 The winner gave a very good performance. The second performer was also good. RECITATION, girls under 16 years.

Jack Beoß (Greytown) 111 2 Stephen Bishop (Clareville) 3 These were the only competitors. ( PIANO SOLO, under 16. _ (Test piece, ''Wedding Day in Trolhaugen.") Miss Rita G. Hampton (Masterton), 133 points • 1 Miss Nella Pragnell (Masterton) 12-1 points • 2 Other competitors were: Esmo Watson (Masterton), Rita G. Smith (Auckland). The judge, Mr Gregson, stated that the winner gave, a particularly g ;od rendering of the piece, as also did xhe second-prize winner. Tho coa; position was far beyond the other competitors. Mr Gregson then gr.. e a rendering of, the piece; showing how it should be played. LADIES' RECITATION.— Miss Lulu Arnold, 145 points 1 Miss Ouissie Graham, 144 points 2 Miss Janie Petrie, 141 points ... 3 Mil- Montague stated that the piece was rather difficult for the competitors. He did not want to take the merit from the winner, but he stated that Miss Graham has a very beautiful voice, and that she would, with further tuition and experience, have ja most successful career both as an I elocutionist and a vocalist.
