CORRESPONDENCE.
THE FARMERS' UNION (To the Editor.)
Sir,—-In to-day's issue .you quote the Eketahuna Express reporting, me. a* saying: "An impression existed in some quarters that the big man in the Farmers' Union was using the small man as a cartspaw," but you omit the following sentence: "From personal experience, ihe knew this t be incorrect." 'I went on to say that the number of small farmers is so large a majority that they could ©as-, ily take possession of the Farmers' Union and dominate it. My opinion is that the interests of large and small farmers are very generally in the same direction, and that the constitution of the Union is thoroughly democratic is evidenced by T -he large proportion of small farmers who are members'. —I am, etc., WILL. B. MATHESON. < Rongomai, July 21, 1913.
