MINING NEWS.
Th© dredgemaster of the Success dredge reports under date July 13th: "I beg to report a fairly steady run of 117 hours for a return of 30ozs 12 dwt<s from the south end of the cut. The ground on this end is 35 feet deep and the wash is similar to the last time we worked this corner. The wash is still ertremely hard and cemeniy, it is still oridised and all the stones flat. There is 14 feet of stripping and consists of clay and mud. As the greater part of this section worked this week in swamp buried timber was the cause of a lot of lost time. Everything at the dredge is running well." The Worksop dredge supervisor reported under date 13th July: The last return of loozs lOdwts was a very poor one. We are apparently through the run of gold. I intend visiting the claim on the 14th, and will probably turn dredge 'down the river. By so doing we will back on to the gold again, in two or three weeks.
