{By TeltQTaph.—Trns.n Association.) PAHIATUA, Last Night. The third annual festival of the Pahiatua Compositions Society opened yesterday, and was a great success. There won? over two hundred entries, which i< a record. Competitors were present from all parts of the Wellington province. Rosults:— Prepared Speech.— Mre P. Cairns (Masterton) 1; J. W. Sturton (Ekctahuna), 2. Impromptu Speech.— D. B. Anderson, 1; J. J. Fox, 2. Musical Monologue (ladies). —Miss Aitcheson (Kaitawa). 1; Miss A. Taylor and Miss L. Brown tied for second place. Recitation (ladies), humorous.— Mrs Cairns, 1; Miss K. G. Miller, 2. Girls under 16: Hazel Jeffry (Wellington), 1; Paula Shotlander, 2. Boys under 12: J. Walsh, 1; C. Brown (Mangata in ok a), 2.
