HOCKEY.
NORDfcN CUP. On the Carterton show-grounds on Thursday afternoon, the Nelson hockey representatives met the Wairarapa representatives in the contest for the' Nordon Cup, the Wairarapa team at present being the holders. A very interesting and keenly contested game ensued, and at the call of time a draw—two goals each—was recorded. 'lt was mutually arranged to play on until one side scored, and after a fifteen minutes spell, Wairarapa. notched a goal and were thus declared the winners. Ordish and Tunnieliffe scored for the Wairarapa, and Martin shot both goals for Nelson. Messrs Floyd and Fisher made most efficient referees. SMOKE CONCERT. In the evening the visitors were entertained at a smoke concert, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Mr W. Dickson, of Masterton,. presided over a large gathering of hockey enthusiasts. During the evening Mr A. C. Pragnell was the recipient of a beautiful silver tea service from the whole of the Wairarapa players, in recognition of services rendered to hockey in the Wairarapa. The recipient suitably responded.
