ROMANTIC WEDDING.
I. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM. Probably the happiest pair aboard the Sonoma, which arrived in Svdney last week from San Francisco, were Mr and" Mrs James F. Cosby. The latter its a nephew ot an American oil magnate, and the former, prior to her marriage, was Miss Vera Lindstrom. The story of the runaway pair is thus related by the San Francisco Evening Post, in its issue published the day the steamer sailed, and a copy of which arrived the same day as the vessel:— "Aboard the steamer Sonoma, which sailed for Sydney, Australia, were Mr and Mrs James F. Cosby (Vera Lindstrom), who 'eloped* last night and were married, despite parentaT opposition, winch would not yield to'tears, l ' entreaties, or cajoleries. is, parents and 'guardians were obdurate until the young people were forced to the extreme measure of -elopment.' But the opposition had melted into thin air by the time the Sonoma sailed, for there on the deck, holding the bride in*a fond embrace of fare- ] well, and weeping and laughing at the same time, was her mother, Mrs A. 0. Lindstrom. Standing apart, talking to the young bridegroom was his new father-in-law. Dr A. O. Lindstrom. arid all around were echool girl friends of Mrs Cosby, who had come to extend their best wishes and | bid her, bon voyage. Mrs. Cosby is I the daughter of Doctor A. 0. Lindstrom nresident of the Swedish Society of 'cSi^nJirflnO"'-^^**- 1 - who, as the most beautiful representative of Sweden In California, raised the flag of her father's, country at the Exposition grounds a few weeks ago. \vhen til© Swedish site was dedicated. Cosby is a nephew of Joseph Anderson Ctiansilor, the oil magnate of San Francisco and Los Angeles, and is going to Australia to begin business upon capital furnished him by his uncle. Miss Lindstrom and young Cosby were married last night by the Rev. John A. Emery, archdeacon of the Episcopal diocese of California v The couple had arranged to be married this morning just before Sonoma sailed, but changed tb.fcfr plans at a late hour, so late that Cupid Munson was beseeched to open his office after the regular closing hour. The ceremony was performed at 1536 Sacramento-street. "When the bride telephoned to her mother that she was married, Mrs Lindstrom invited the couple to come home at an early hour this morning and that all would lie forgiven. Also on the Sonoma were Mr and Mrs George Earle Phillips, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, who aided and abetted the Cosby romance to the extent of securing a good business proposition in Australia for young Cosby was backed in his business venture by His uncle, Joseph Chansilor but the latter was unwilling for his nephew to undertake the responsibilities of matrimony.
