WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING. STEEPLECHASE WON BY NEDRA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Wellington Racing Olub's winter meet fig opened at Trentham today. The weather was dull, and a Blight Vshower fell diiring the afternoon, but it did not interfere with the racing. There was a very large attendance, and the racing was most interesting, the finishes in- many instances being very close. Speculation was very brisk, tW sum of £25,577£ coing through the machine, compared with £12,883 for the first day of the previous winter fixture, an increase of £12,694. The first day of the winter meeting in 1912 was very wet, and this accounts for the small totalicator returns.
