MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Genoral Ommitteo of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held in the Association's rooms on Saturday last, there doing present Messrs H. I Mr J;unu.s Stuckey wrote, agreeing i to represent the association at the 1 annual meeting of the National Sheep- ! breviers' Association, together with I Mr IV. Perry. ! The secretary of tile Agricultural Department wrote, expressing regret that .Masterton could not be included in the list of shows at which the Agricultural Department's general exhibit could lie made. It was stated, however, that a small exhibit would be made at the show. It was ■.decided to refer the matter to the Aijjrjcaitural Committee, with a view to further representations being "tiltie report of the sub-committee appointed to deal with the question of the prize for the jumping competition was read. The committee recommended that, as the judgeg had placed Mr Westmoreland's horse "MinoiaV second, and had allowed the horses be leave the ring, Minora, be - awarder! the second prize, notwithstanding that Hi" j nd<res had subsequently altered their decision. —Mr C. F. Vol banco objected to its being stated tha> the judges had altered their decision. The hid been made by the stewards entering the decision wromr!y on iha card. —Mr Cooper explained that the committee ha< taken considerable evidence, and hr,r' oome to the. conclusion that the judges had reversed their decision. It was thought that, under the circumstances, the horses should have been called into the ring next. moraine and the alteration announced to jjhc C. F. Valjan.ce strongly objected to tli6 judges blamed. As marshal steward, he was himself prepared to take all the blame. —Mr 0. Cooper .said it was nob desired to put the blame on the steward. At the most, >an error had been made by the judges in not calling the horsey hack into the ring.—After farther discussion, the report, of fchd| subcommittee was adopted.*, ** ' .. GROUND COMMITTEE. The report of the t meeting of the Ground Committee, ai which Mr\R. Gray presided, was read. The caretaker; reported having put in seven small plantations .since, his last report. He had also trimimed trees - and finished the repairing of sheep yards. Messrs Robinson 'and Son had sent two hundred cabbage trees as a donation, and most of these had been planted. The caretaker made several improvement. Tt was decided that" Messrs B. Gray and 1 W. H. Buick inspect the propose ed work. It was decided that Messrs McGregor and O. E. Daniell be asked. to furnish an estimate of the cost of a pumping scheme from tlhe spring t the grandstand. FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee's report was read, Mr D. Oaselberg having occupied the chair. The treasurer reported expenditure for the month amounting to £7O 13s Bd, and receipts £7O 12s 6d. The debit balance at date to be £145 10s 2d. Accounts amounting to £57 lis lOd were passed for payment. It was decided to recommend that the request of the local Amateur Theatrical Society for the use of the committee ; room on Tuesdays and Fridays until the middle of September next be granted, free of rent, the Society to defray the cost ci lighting and cleaning. The secretary submitted a bal-ance-sheet to June 30th, which showed receipts £4054 10s 5d and expenditure £4163 5s Bd. The statement showed a balance of £8037 16s 5d assets over liabilities, as oomapared with I £7416 0 S 9d at June 30th, 1913.
