NEW LONDON MYSTERY.
DISAPPEARANCE OF A WEALTHY LITHUANIAN. Scotland Yard has been requested to inquire into the mysterious disappearance of Mr Antanas Vedegis, a wealthy Lithuanian, who, coming to London on business in January, has not been heard of since the 17th of that month. . A woman, well-known in the highest social circles in Warsaw, aad a Lithuanian living in London, is making inquiries. Mr Vedegis is do cr lied as of medium build, with dark hair and close-cropped moustache, and rather good-looking. His age is from 36 to 40, and he speaks English 'airly well, Lithuanian, Polish, and i\ little Russian. In January last he left the Marszalkowska, Warsaw—a part rivalling Park Lane in the dignity and splendour of its houses —and came to London on business, intending to visit Manchester and Liverpool in due course. At that time he had some £2OOO in his possession, and facilities for obtaining more money if he wished to do so. After his arrival on or about January 17th, ho visited a Lithuanian priest to whom he was well known, Hbut he has not been seen since. Mr Vedegis was no stranger to London, having been there for seven years .previous to 1908, when he left for New England, Canada, where, it is understood, he made a very considerable amount of money. On leaving Canada he returned to London for a period of two months, and then went to Warsaw, where ho purchased an estate.
