AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. BRILLIANT FEATURE PROGRAMME. Saturday night saw the seating 'accommodation at the popular T.P. Electric Theatre, heavily taxed by an audience who showed decided appreciation of the subjects screened, and added confirmation to the fact that this old established picture firm are still increasing in favour with the pxtblio. "George Barnwell, London Apprentice," was the event of the evening, being a vivid representation of the English story. The story is a strong dramatic, and graphically presents a series of episodes indicating how the moral foundations of a youth are sapped through the instrumentality of a scheming seductive woman; how he is brought in the hey-day of life, from honest industry to venal crimes, in expiation of which he has to suffer the last dread penalty of the law. His gradual decline is shown in a seqiienoo of arresting incidents, the climax being reached with a rushing crescendo of circumstances. The excellent staging adds greatly to the merit of this fine moral play. "A Prodigal Wife," a Solax production, introduced a novel drama, which was much appreciated. "The Mists of Error" was a Hepworth drama which showed a girl's sacrifioo in order to save her brother's honour. "Broncho Billy's Gun Play," an Essanay feature, introduced G. M. Anderson in another of his irresistible turns. "The Little Nugget,," a drama which contributed the Western element to the series wag a subject with a strong motive. "Eclair Journal" discoursed the latest fashions and topical events whilst "A Doll's Life," an industrial Patho film, proved a most interesting item. Numerous comedies included "Bloomer's Ma-in-Law," and "A Duke of Leisure." This series will be continued to-night.
