FURTHER ALLEGED BREACHES. I y PENALTIES IMPOSED. In th© Magistrate's Court at M-as-- | terton yesterday; before Mi- L. G. Read, S.M., Bertram Thomas Ghaflis, of Carterton, was dharged on two informations with having sold liquor, intended to be taken to the No-Keens© district of Masterbon, in compliance with order s received from George Jackson and Alfred Langley, and with having failed ,to furnish the clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Mastarton with a statement in writing of the nature and quantity of the liquor so taken. Sergeant Miller appeared for the prosecution, and Mr G. H. Oullen for the defendant. The evidence of the police showed that the liquor had been purchased on a Friday, and the notice had not readied the Clerk of tlhe Court until Monday morning. Mr Cullen stated that the sale had been ma<le late on Friday, and the notice had been posted on Saturday afternoon. This was considered -early enough. Mr Oullen urged that, if a mistake had been ,mcde, it was only of a technical character. There was no intention to defy the law. Sergeant Miller pointed cut th-t the defendant had previously been fined for a similar offence.
