GENTLEMEN V. PLAYERS. A SENSATIONAL START. (Received July 11, 11 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. The cricket match Gentlemen v. Players is being played on a wet wicket. The Gentlemen, who batted first, made a sensational start* three wickets falling for no runs, and seven wickets for 38. Jessop, eighth man in, played a brilliant innings for 81, scored in seventy minutes. Falcon, the la6t man, cleverly gave Jessop the bowling. The innings closed for 139. Jessop was accorded an ovation. The Players scored 93 for two wickets, Tarrant contributing 57 (not out).
