THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "IN THE HOUSE OF IMPOSTERS." Another large audience greeted the second screening of the present change at the r l'.P. Electric Theatre last evening. The big feature, "In the hands of Imposters," again proved most popular." The' plot was interesting and intricate, and dealt in -a small way with whit© slave | traffic,- showing the eneaiaring of a girl aaid the numerous trials she encountered whilst in the hands of unscrupulous merchants. "A Mistaken Calling" was an Essaney ooanedy drama which proved both interesting and amusing. It introduced a city romance, in which a cook, who had a "bobby" for her sweetheart, saw a notice in the newspaper which pointed out that some persons miss their vocation in life, and advised readers to consult a certain professor who would enlighten them as to their proper vocation. On consulting this personage, tho cook was informed that she possessed great -poetical powers, aiid from here on the story keeps up a humorous and interesting strain. Two veiry fine dramas featuring children were shown in the Selig Company's "Guardians of their Hearts," 'andiii "A Mother Awakened," a Rex prdfuction. "Tellers' a beautifully coloured PathSßflntasy, which delighted all patrons. A replace drama was shown in place of "As the Fates' Decree," which will be shown to-night," not having arrived in time to show last night. Several interesting comedies included "Why the Cat Return-; ed," and "Bella's Beau." A -New Zealand special film provided a most ; interesting item, as it |howed:,the recent railway smash at; NeW" Lynn, Auckland, and disclosed the existence of an Ostrich Farm at' Pj&kekoibe. -near Auckland, a fact which proves .-a 'surprise to many. This series will be repeated this evening. For Saturday's change the management announce x the screening of that famous English story entitled "George Barnwell, London Apprentice." This film is 3000 feet in length and is ; one of the greatest moral lessons ever cinematographed. The usual matinee will be given at 2.30 on Saturday..
TOWN HALL PICTURE*. "SIX O'CLOCK." The bill-of-fare to be offered at the Masterton Town Hall this 1 evening by the Picture and Entertainment Company for the delectation of patrons of the; people's own, place of amusement, is?well up to, the standard. Three stirring dratnas arp to be presented, one of the most interesting of which is » Vitagraph romance entitled "Six O'Clock." The story Tinfolded is a simple one. Cameron; is ruined unlesi he can raise £IO,QOO immediately. His partner promises to rinfc up before six o'cloqk, if he is successful. His son Jimmy puts the , clock forward Invlf art hour. Cameron has resolved to take his life if favourable news does not arrive be-, fore six. Jimmy returns and puts the clock back, : but this-. 1 does not prevent its striking. At the moment the clock striked the butler answers , a call, but is startled" by the report of a pistol-shot from an adjoining room. A doctor is. summoned ana Cameron is found' npt to be injured. The financial arrangements are satisfactory, and all ends merry as the proverbial marriage bell.. Another interesting dramA is'entitled "The Latent Spark." This is the story of love-makmg_ on a ranch, , which produces a series of tragic incidents. .The, Selig drama "God of Gold" is also a most t fascinating repan'ce. The comedy side of the programme is very sti:ong. "Question of/Corpulence" shows how the efforts of a rotund husband to rfeduce his avoirdupois by a' process of massage is misunderstood by his .wife. "Pimple as Rent Collector" is a screamingly funny comic, as is also "Table Turning," and "All for a,Girl/-' A very fine presentation of. scenes from" the charming island of Java, in the East, together with the Australian Gazette, and- ; a- scientific showing "Why . you. should Killthat>*Fly," go to complete a programme'that is full of. interest and excitement. The Town Hall should be crowded to-night.
