EKETAHUNA-PONGAROA ROAD
A QUESTION OF METALLING
LOAN TO BE RAISED BY PETITION.
At the meeting of, the Masterton County Council yesterday, Councillor, A. J. Patchefct,stated that, in yieWof what had transpired at the last meet?ing of the Council, another meeting of .ratepayers had been held at Waterfalls, and a .satisfactory arrangement had been come to in regard to a rating area. The following resolution had T>een carried:—"That this meeting of ratepayers interested request the Masterton County Council to take the necessary step s to raise a loan of £I6OO by petition, subject to a Government subsidy of £3200 being obtained. The rating area to include all that portion of the Alfredton Riding included in area for loan No. ,119 (£IOOO njeialling); also portions of. the property of Messrs 0. 0. Cooper, W. M. Kebbeil, 0. Benton, John' Smith,'D. Parsonson, and T. Smith, the latter gentlemen having agreed to pea-mit a portion of their properties to be included in the prbpiosed rating area, the amounts of which, are attached hereto." It was suggested by Cr Toogood that the first step necessary was to secure the Government grant. Cr Patchett stated that a deputation was waiting upon the Minister on- the subject, and wais very optimistic. It was eventually decided that the clerk prepare the necessary petition for signature by tihe ratepayers interested.
