THE DEBATE CONTINUED.
The debate on the Address-in-Reply was continued in the Legislative Council yesterday by the Hons., Beehan and Samuel. In the House of Representatives, Mr G. R. Sykes (Masterton) continued ; the debate. He urged the judicious ' spending of loan moneys, and the .opening up of trade relations in. various parts of the world; 1 ■•Mr.A-, M. Myers (Auckland) follow- ; ed, defending the .appointments made by the Mackenzie Goveramenjt, and dealing with the questions' of finance. | The Hon. A. L. Herdman defended <st some length the work done by the Commissioners under, the Publitf. Service Act. He also dealt with "the Waihi strike and other matters, i Mr Atmore (Nelson) criticised Mr Herdman's administration of the Police Department; , I Mr John Payne (Grey Lynn) accused the Government of getting into power by intrigue.
