CONSTABLE BAKER.
AND HIS TRANSFER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Last Night. A statement published to-day concerning the transfer of Constable Baker to Gisbome, and the reported assurance by the Minister of Justice to the Auckland police that, "on m,v honour as Minister of Justice, whatever you say will not be held against you," vva« brought under the Hon. "A. L. Herdman's notice to-day. Ho remarkedV that he had nothing to say at present. "Except this," he said, "that the constable's statement that there has been any breach of faitK is yntrue. The whole matter will no doubt be .dealt with at tho proper time, and in a proper manner by the House."
