On the .Napier Inanimate Gun Club's grounds today, the annual clay pige,on match for the champinship of New Zealand was shot off. TKe entries totalled thirty-nine, and were considered satisfactory in the extreme, representing the best shots of tljß Dominion. Competitors were present from as far south as Alexandra South, and as far north a s Auckland. The weather was cold, and a disconcerting wind with occasional showers swept over the grounds. The birds were active and frequently deceived the guns. The result was that shooting was very poor. The conditions of the "shoot" were 21 birds at unknown angles, all guns on the 18 yards mark. The nomination fee was £2, the winner taking 60 per cent., the second 25 per cent., and the third 15 per cent, of the stake.
