HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
ORDINARY MEETLXG. The ordinary by-monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held in the Board's offices at Masterton yesterday, there being present: Messrs E. G. Eton, W. Fisher, W. Moore, T. V. Moore, H. Morrison, F. W. Kummer, J. I). Wilson, J. Dawson, G. Bennett, A.'J. Speedy, J. H. MurrayJackson, J. 0. Ewington, and D. J. Cameron. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs R. F. Beetham, A. D. McLeod and H. Cornelius. Mr E. G. Eton was elected chair•nan for the meeting. The Treasurer reported receipts for the month amounting to £1594 6s 6d, and.expenditure £lß4l 19s 4d. The bank balance at date wan £836 12s sd. A letter from District (Nurse Nickless, asking for the payment of house-rent for herself and any emergency oaseg that might he dealt with, was referred to the Eketahuna Com•nittee for a recommendation. A circular was read from tlie Department of Headth, covering a proposed scheme for the insurance of nurses. It was suggested that, it bo compulsory for third-grade nurses to insure in some reputable office. —Mr W. Fisher moved, and Mr J. Dawson seconded, that the matter be referred to the Central Hospital Committee for a report.—Mr Murray-Jack son thought it unfair that the nurses should be co-npellod to insure.—The motion of Mr Fisher was carried. A circular from the Department, asking for papers on infant mortality, was received. A request from C. J. Smith for admission to the Rotorua Sanatorium was referred to the Central Committee. The reports of the meetings of various councillors were read and adopted. The Inspectors' reports were read and received.
