•"A KOMAiNOE IN JHIELAND." 3Cb is doubtful if Masterjton play;goers have ever enjoyed an entertainment to such an extent as "A Romance in Ireland," :as. presented in/ the Town' Hall last .evening by Allen Doone. Mr Doone, as the result of aasingle appearance, established himself and f his band of Irish artists, as pronounced favourites. The various scenes, truly realistic of life in Quid Ireland'in the year 1800, were artistically produced amd left not a' dull moient from the'fl'ise to the fall of the curtain. Features of the piece were the singing of Irish meodies br Mr Doone in his natural,'' sweet and unaffected voice, and rich brogue, rendering it an easy matter to understand why he has created such a favourable impression in 'all parts of the world. His "Tendering of "DearOld Ireland/' "Wheye .my Dear Mother Lies," "The.lLqV Backed 'Oar, 3 ' and other urambers equally at-' tractive will not soon be forgotten. In Miss Edna Keetey, 'Mr Doone has a splendidly capjtfeie assistant, heV acting through the entire- piece beinj; charmingly clever, TvQiile Miss "Ethel Giest, Mick Brofly v and Father O'FJyim each bore their parts wellAs a wholesome,, refined play, portraying :all that is"best in the life of | Ireland, with all its beautiful rosnance, the productions of the Allen, ©oore Cwaipany nmySbe safely recommended.
