WELLINGTON, Last Night,
The ttov. D. C. Bates*, of the Meteorological Office, this evening wired as follows:
Strong and squally westerly winds have with cold and showery \veather generally. The baro meter has been very unsteady. Present indications are for variable and strong winds generally. Increasing northerlies, changing to easterly, northward of East Cape and Kawhia, and westerly winds changing to south to high south-easterlies, elsewhere. Cold and rough weather, with rain probable general, and snow on higher levels. The barometer will probably fall further in the north, but ia likely to rise in. the south and everywhere after about 24 hours.
