ALLEX DOONE SEASON
• To-night the Irish singing comedian, Mr- Allen Doone, w'' ;.!uy at the Town Hall tho romanti. >~uime drama, "A Romance in T-i nd." Fewactors have done so nine;, to obliterate the infamous "stage Irishman," with his flaming red hair, irreen whiskers, simian fjKie, and ridiculous actions, as has Allen Doone, and in so doing h* has established a sympathetic bond between his fellow-country-men and himself, the ties of which are so strong that they make the announcement "Allen Doone is coming" a welcome one. Theatregoers, irrespective of nationality, who appreciate whoisome plays, acted in a refined and legitimate manner, are ardent supporters of Mr Doone. His sw:ot voice, soft unaffected broque, natural, artistic acting, genuino humour and personality, easily stamp him as a leader in his particular line. He has surrondfd himself with an excellent company, headed by the charming young American actress. Miss Edna Keoley. The box plan is at the Dresden.
THE DANDIES. In presenting l "The Dandies" to | local theatregoers at the Town Hall on Thursday, June 12th, Mr Edward Branscombe fe?ls especially gratified and pleased in being tho means of introducing so highly eulogised and talented a -combination of artists whose reputation throughout Australasia, is beyond question and associated with one unbroken record of success. The entertainment they provide has been found to possess the rare merits, cleanliness, and originality. "The Dandi?s" stylo of entertainment has been put to the test both in New -Zealand and Australia, and has been acclaimed by. press" and public to inoet all tlie requirements of an intelligent people. Th"* attractions are bright, sparkling arid fresh and fall not at all within'the category of th - commonplace. "The Dandies" have made a welcome departure from the conventional and their reward is success monetarily and artistically. Mr Branpcombe had no less than five companies permanently located in the different cities of the Commonwealth during the summer and two of these are to be in New Zealand for the wintei. The box plan opens on Wednesday morning at the Dresden.
