Our Own Correspondent. CARTERTON. The Carterton Borough Council has decided to subsidise the Town Beautifying Society £ for £ .up to £lO. It it, understood that Mr J. Byers has disposed of his interest in his section at Carrington, and leaves in about a fortnight's time for Scotland. During the past month the dog registrar in the Carterton Borough, registered fifteen house dogs and three cattle dogs, bringing the total up .to 151. The Gas Committee of the Carterton Borough has recommended a reduction of lOd per 1000 feet on lighting gas, making the net price 7e 6d per 1000 feet.
ALFREDTON. The Alfredton Rifle Club held' its annual ball and prize-giving on Thursday, the 22nd inst. The hall was beautifiully decorated, and a very pleasant evening was sP* President Wilton made a neat speech at the end of which Mr. "W. Jones, of Alfredton, was presented with a salad bowl and servers as a slight recognition of the courtesy he has shown the club. Mrs Percy Wilton then presented the trophies as under : Holmes Warren Challenge Cup, won by J. H. Macdonald; Cecil Kebbell Handicap Cup, R. W. Kebbell; H. J Dagg Challenge Shield, H. Kebbell ; Walker and Hall Cup, L. Percy ; Win. Kebbell Oup W. A. Algie; W. Rutherford's trophy, M. Godinagh; A. J. Rutherfurd's trophy, G. Ford; J. Dagg's trophy, W. Algie; O. C. Cooper's trophy, F. Percy; A. J. Rutherf ird's trophy, H. Benton; W. S. AJgie's trophy, L. Percy. The Alfredton Rifle Club finished its service shooting on Saturday, the 24th, when J. E. Deokett won the , trophy given by Mr L. Percy, with I the good (jcore of ninety-nine.
