Mr Arthur Uuise, who was private to Lord Islington, has been appointed private secretary to Lord Denman, Governor-General of Australia, and, accompanied by Mrs Guise, arrived in. Melbourne last week from England to take up his new duties.

Mr "G. A. Noble-Campbell, of the kead office staff, has been appointed resident agent for Hawke's Bay of the Government Life Insurance Department. Mr JNoble-Oampball is a son of the late Mr *. Nobte-Oaanpbell, who was a prominent figure imt business circles in Wellington in the 'eighties, and is a brother of Mr Noble-Campbell, denti&t, of Masterton.

Sister Mary Davey, of the Christclrarch Hospital, has been appointed to the staff of the Masterton Hospital in place of Sister Craig, who has left the institution to take up Plunket nursing in the Gisborne district/ Sister Nicholson, of Wellington, has been appointed to a vacancy caused by the resignation of Sister Westoby, who has been appointed to the Gisi borne Hospital.

An interesting and pretty wedding was solemnised by the Rev R. Young, vicar at St. Mark's Church, Carterton om Wednesday, when Daniel H. Jensen, youngest son of Mr A. Jensen, of Waihakeke, was married to Ethel Mabel Johnson, youngest daughter of Mr Neil Johnson, of Parkvale. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly dressed in a pretty gown or cream* silk, trimmed with cream silk laoe and insertion. She vrore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried, a beautiful bouquet of white chrysanthemums and lycapodium. The bride was attended by Miss (Myrtle Jensen, sister of the bridegroom (chief) and Miss Clara Johnson, as bridesmaids, who were similarly attired in cream satin trimmed with laoe, and wore hats to match. They also carried bouquets of maJ-guerite daisies and lycapodhim. Mr h. Johnson acted as best man, and Mr F. Anderson was groomsman.
