MR D. A. PICKERING.
Jt is rather a pity that Mr D. A. Pickering, who has quite a shrewd idea of what this district requires in the way of secondary education, should ba associated with a party that is doing its very best to prevent the establishment of a, school of tha i character he desii'es. Mr Pickering mado it olsar last night that what he really wants is an Agricultural High School. 'lnat is what we want, and what the district wants. But, unMr Pickering is associated with a party that does tnot want an Agricultural High School. His "chief" went so far as to oppose a resolution urging the Government to grant facilities for the establisnm?ut of such a school. If Mr Pickering is sincere—and we believe he is—he will withdraw, even at tnis late hour, £ro;:i a party which is out 10 frustrate the effort to secure tin establishment of the institution he desires.
