MEETING OF PROTEST. A SAD (Pueceived May 19.< 1 ■ p.m.'i May 18. A Shanghai newspaper reports that local gentry and larmers of ShenChoW'Timg, Western Hunan, resenting the action of the troops in uprooting the poppy crops, assembled in a temple to discuss the matter, whereupon the. troops fired the building, and sixty-seven ot those gathered therein were incinerated.
