THE PRIME MINISTER.
PREPARING FOR THE SESSION. PUSHING ON" LAND SETTLEMENT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Hon. W. F. Massey stated today that he has been very busy preparing legislative proposals for the coming session, and already a number of Bills are ready or in a forward state, including an amendment of the Art, to give effect to that- pn-rt of tho Government's policy on this question., which could not be dealt with last session. Land settlement is being pushed on vigorously in various parts of tho country, and in addition to two estates acquired during the past week there are live or six others, which will shortly, it is expected, be available for cutting up for closer settlement. Owing to Ministers' engagements' in different districts a full Cabinet meeting is difficult to arrange. In tluse circumstances ,it is unlikely that any Legislative Council appointments will be made before Parliament meets. Possibly the announcements may be made in the Governor's Speech at the opening of the session.
