"THE MONK AND THE WOMAN."

Tho forthcoming season erf the. romantic and s{>ectacular drama, "The Monk and tlio Woman," will be inaugurated at the Town Hall, on Monda.y evening by George Mallow's Dramatic CYunpany. Tho p ; lay is by the pon of Frederick Melville, who, around the awakening of love in the breast of a young monk for "tho woman," has woven his story. For love the erstwhile ascetic novice is made to lay aside his church career and to dare even death. What might easily have been made a matter for much contention and perhaps religious rancour has been skilfully handled by the playwright. Tho company engaged to present this play have been epedally selected, and comprise _ a .number cf Iv' tr lis'h and Australian artiste, who will make their first appearance before a iMasterton audience. Tho piece has four acts and ten scenes, ard this is how the scones are arranged: Act i., "Within the Monastery"; act scene 1, "The King's Paloce.'' scene 2, "Garden of the .Monastery"; act iii., scene 1, "The Court rf the Reprobate King," scene 2, "The Woodman's Hut," scene 3, "The Ohapel Koyal 3 act iv,, scene 1, "The Guard House," secne 2. "Meeting House of the Conspirators." scene 3, "The King's Chateftu," scene 4, "The Awe-inspiring Earthquake." The box plan is now open at the Dresden. Day sales are at. McLeod and Young's.
