TO DAY'S WEATHER.
NEW ZEALAND FORECAST.
WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates, of the Meteorological Office, this evening wired as follows: The low pressure which prevailed on Friday was of a cyclonic nature, and in higher latitude# than is usually observed, and passed eastwards on Saturday night and Sunday, with southerly gales and v ery wintry weather in all parts of the country, heavy rain was experienced in many districts, and snow on the higliei levels. South-westerly gales were reported this afternoon at Port Ahuriri, Kaikoura and Akaroa Lighthouse, and alio, at Cape Maria van Diemen. Present indications are for cold and changeable w>ather, squally and showery in. parts. 'Hie barometer is unsteady but with a rising tendency, and strong southerly winds will probably prevail. Conditions are still unsettled on the Tasman Sea. at the edge of an Australian anti-cyclone which is apparently of great extent.
