MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MONTHLY REPORT
The monthly meeting of the Masterton. Olub was held on Saturday, there being, present: Messrs C. F. Vallano© {chairman), A. G. Pilmer, J. B. Moodie, 0. C. Cooper, G. H. Yates, J. Toms, Frank Dorset, Fred Dorset, H. Douglas. W. Cooper, P. Harrison R. Buick, D. McLaehlan and H. J. We loli. Apologies were received from Messrs J. Macara and C. Bennett. The secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference wrote in reference to the sitting of the conference in July, and asking that a cheque for £1.5 be forwarded as levy for services of stipendiary stewards at the recent meeting. Tho Woodlands Hunt Club wrote, asking for support. Tt was decided to inform them that tho Masterton Club could wot see its way clear to grant the request. Mr C. Lou is son wrote, complaining of the handicapping of his horse Martlet at the recent -meeting. It was resolved that the matter be referred to M.r J. H. Pollock, the club's handicapper.
The secretary presented the interim balance-sheet in connection with the Autumn meeting, showing that a profit of over £IOOO had been made. The ehaii~min, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, congratulated the stewards on the success of the fixture, and thanked thorn for the assistance they had rendered. He emphasised the good work done by Mr Moodie, as totalisa-tor steward, which considerably assisted the success of the meeting. He would also tender the club's thanks to the secretary CMr A. Hathaway) for his untiring efforts to make the meeting the success it Was, while the custodian (Mr MeConkey) also deserved credit for hi s good work. The secretary, also presented wie statement of the farm account for the past year, which showed that a balance of £286 17s 2d had been made for the year. Tho chairman said the club owed its thanks to Messrs W. Cooper and Frank Dorset, for their supervision of tho fam, which showed such a satisfactory return for the year. It was decided to increase the- salary of the caretaker to £llO. It was resolved to ask Messrs J. B. Moodie and T- Bagnell to report a R to tho advisability of retaining the system of issuing 10s tickets from the totalisator at the next meeting.
