ESCAPED PRISONERS.
HAVE SHORT LIBERTY.

WELLINGTON, Last Night, Two prisoners named Donovan and LftTiis, who escaped from the Terrace Gaol oil Friday night, were recaptured near the Makara beach on Sat- . in-day afternoon by Mounted Constables Pearson and Warner. The constables picked up traces of the escapees at fishermen's hujbs," which liad ]>eea visited by them. The men were' seen on the hillside amongst some scrub, and the constables! rode after then. The escapees were in civilian clothes, and when the eonetiWes came up to them they threatto use sandbags they possessed. The policemen, however, drew their revolvers, and the men then- gave ' themselves up. 1
