Mr J. H. Kirby, the well-known journalist, has sufficiently recovered from his recent illness to bo able to j leave the Masterton Hospital. I Last night's meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust being the ! final meeting before the election, th'/ ■•; chairman, MrR. Krabagen, took the : > opportunity of thanking his ' co- j Trustees for the assistance they had rendered during the past year in conducting the affairs of the Trust. Messrs D. Caselberg, W. H. Jackson and C E. Daniel! spoke in flattering terms of the. ablo manner in which Mr Krahagen had carried out the somewhat difficult duties attached to the chairmanship, and expressed the hope that he would be found in his old position after the election. The many friends of Mr and Mrs J. G. Oates, of Parkvale, will regret to hear of the demise of their daughter, Edith May, which occurred on Thursday night. The young lady was aged 26, and had lately contracted a •severe cold, which developed into pneumonia, and in spite of the best ■medical aid and careful nursing, she passed away at her home as above stated. The funeral takes place afternoon, and the interment will be at the private cemetery, White's Line, Parkvale. The death occurred at Murchison, in the Nelson district, this week, of Mr J. Westbrook, who resided for many years in Masterton. Mr ~E. P. Bunny, Mayor of the. Lower Hutt, who has been on a yisit to the Wairarapa, returns to his home to-day. The many friends of Mr Pryor Gilbert, who has been confined to the Masterton Hospital for some time, will be pleased to learn that he is now making a rapid recovery from his illness. Mr Gilbert was greatly interested in the hockey matches, played at Lansdowne on Thursday afternoon, which he viewed fnvu the hospital verandah with the aid of a pair of field glasses. I Mr and Mrs T. Boyd left Pahiatua for their new home at JRakaia yesterday. Miss E. Sullivan, daughter of Mr E. Sullivan, of Pahiatua, has booked her passage for a trip to Ireland, With Miss Haran she will leave by the Tonic for the Old Country on Thursday next.

Or Jennings, of Victoria, the newly appointed officer for tbe Pongaroa Medical Association, has not yet arrived at Pongaroa, but is expected to do so in the course of the next week or .so.

On Sunday evening the death occurred of Mrs J. Gibson, relict of the late Mr James Gibson, of Wilson Street, Wanganui, at the age of 7-1 yeans. Mrs Gibson bad been for many years a resident of Wanganui, amd many friends will regret her .decease. She was well-known and very widely respected.
