FOOTBALL NOTES.

(By "AH Black.") TO-MORROW'S FIXTURES. The following fixtures hav« boon drawn for to-morrow : Seniors. —-Gladstone v. Martinborough, at Greytown; referee, K. MeKenzu\ United v. Carterton, at Carterton; L. Armstrong. Masterton v. Red Star, at Masterton ; Rov Ashcroft. Junior.—Carterton v. Red Star, at Masterton;' W. Waterson. Daleliekl v. United, at Dahfiold; A. Booth. Third-Class.—Daleliekl v. Catrterton, at Carterton ;K. Lindop. United v. Red Star, at Carterton Reserve; H. Chapman. Marcmborough, a bye.

At the tini. 1 of writing it is still doubtful whether Masterton will be able to get a team in the field to play Red Stars. It in said there are a number of players anxious for a ga.HU and no great difficulty will bo met ini scouring fifteen men. It is vtTj much to be hoped that such is the case, as no one desires to see one team drawing n byo each week. Rob Spackman will probably play for Gladstone this season.. Spackman would b? a great help to the yellow and black'forwards. E. Collertou, who played a season ago for Gladstone, will be found in. tli© ranks again on Saturday week. Carterton will play first match to-morrow against United, and many are anxious to s»<J the reds in the field. ..'is said they have as strong .a combination as ever, and will take alt sorts of beating for the championship. United should give them a good game. The two Groubes will after all play for their old colours, having been persmded to don the' ivd jersey again. Carterton will have a strong back team in the fieJd to-morrow, and vith Masson, Sievers, Alatsrm and the Groubes have some good scoring men. Martinborough moet Gladstone tomorrow at Greytown. If the former arrive with a full fifteen they should give a good account of themselves. A. Goulder, who played for Liberals last year, will figure amongst the United forwards to-morrow. A. Duggan showed some of his | old form in the match against Stars •last Saturday, and did yeoman service for his rather weak side. D. Thompson travelled 32 miles before playing for Gladstone last Saturday, and played one of his best games. P. Bourke, Gladstone's new fiveeighth, promises io prove an asset to the Gladstone Club. K. Strang, who wag taught the game in Wellington College, is another back who will prove of great value to Gladstone during the season. He is a fine, nippy played ,and should be a good scoring man when he strikes form. The Greytown playing ground was very good last Saturday, and the heavy rains had very little' effect on the surface. Had the grass been shorter the ground wudd have been very good indeed. The gates at Wairarapa match" layt Saturday were very small, owing to the very bad weather. Should \]\e conditions be better .on Satur-< ; d?,y A marked improvement will no doubt be shown.

Bed Stars and Carterton juniors meet on the former's ground to-mor-row. A good tussle should result. Masterton teams did well last week, a win being notched by each team competing. The visit of the Now South Wales team to the Dominion this season will he looked forward to by all Rugby enthusiasms. The visitors should bring a strong combination over, and great interest will be centred in tho matches played. Thre? games will be played with a New Zealand representative team. Some dissatisfaction is being expressed tliat a match will not he played against a Wellington x,eam. New Zealand players who joiiied the Northern League teams are frequently mentioned in the Old Country. While playing for Wlgan against Hull, at the end of March, tlie ox-A ueklander C. Seeling broke a bone in his. left ankle. Wigan won by 2-0 points to nil, another exAucklandor in L. Todd scoring threttries. One senior match and two thirdclass matches will be played at Car. terton to-morrow. The following will represent Martinborough seniors against Gladstone: Orr. Blissett Donnelly, Harris, Maninn, Beattie, Bird, Boyens, G. Harris, Hutana, Duggan, Willacy, Buckeridge, McAlpin?, Loriane; emergencies, Perry, He-rrick, Han-sen, S. Playle, Lund, Beston. The following will represent Gladstone in their match against MartinBorough at Greytown to-morrow: D. Thompson, K. Strang, B. Mason, E. Mason, R. Hickson, P. Burke, ,7. Hanley, Duffy, R. Spademan, J. Viekorstafl', .1. Henderson, H. Henderson, J. McLaren*, R. McLaren, Alex. Johnson, A. Johnson. A brakewill leave Shaw and Cole's, Carterton', at- 2 o'clock.
