SHIPWRECKED PA-SSENGEKB FOUND FROZivV TO DEATH. h_ The inquiry intc (die wreck of the British sto&mor C; vados in tho Boa of Marmora on A' rck 2nd revealed terrible experience <ndured by some 200 passengers. * i A panic broke out among the passengers, who • were mostly on deck, and some jumped overboard, while others were washed away by the heavy seas. The boatswain, carrying a line, managed to reach, th.- rocks, and, the rope having been made fast. a number of passengers were able to get on to th t > reef by its aid. This reef was separate from the main island by a channel two or three hundred yards across. At daybreak a. small boat from die lighthouse came to the rescue, aad was able to ferry all the crew a.nd most of the passengers to the larger island. The heavy sea prevented this operation from being completed, and twenty-seven passengers, including four women and two • children*, were left on the exposed rock for two days. When help came it was found that seven meu had been frozen to death.
