GOOD FUTURE FOJt PRODUCER. (Received Last Night, 10 o'clock.) LONDON, May 8. The Hon T. McKenzie, New Zealand High Commissioner,' speaking at the Cold Storage and Ice Association's banquet, in response to the toast of the Dominions, reviewed the history of tlie meat trade. Whom t\v trade'was founded, he said, whole sheep were being sold in New Zealand at the price of a single pound of mutton in England. New Zealand exported half the. total mutton and lamb received in Britain. Tlie future for the producer would be good, because tlie increased demand would ex- , ceed tlie increased supply, though tlie home production increased by '2.30,000 tons. Tlie workers of Europe would soon demand wholesome meat at reasonable prices. The condition of the meat on arriving had improved, ,but the handling at London had not. It was absolutely impossible that the present conditions should continue.
