SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

A CYCLIST INJURED. j While cycling from the Waingawa Freezing Works (where he ia employed) to Masterton last evening, a man named George McMillan met with a serious accident, From details available, it seems that McMillan was riding home after work, and with a strong wind assisting him, wa s travelling at a considerable rate of speed. Mr Joseph Hagerty, another worker, also cycling towards Masterton, was passed by McMillan near Solway. On rounding a bend in the road, Hagerty came upon McMillan, lying on the ground in a pool of blood, apparently coming from, a wound in the head. The handle bars of his bicycle were twisted, suggesting a cause for the accident. McMillan wa s unconscious when found by Mr Hagerty. A motor car, driven by Mr Walter Heighten, came along shortly after, and the injured man was placed in it and a start made for town. A telephone message was meanwhile sent for Dr Cowie, and also the ambulance. The latter was met on the road,'and McMillan was, on the 'orders of Dr Cowie. conveyed to the Masterton Hospital. Here it was discovered that he had sustained injuries to his head, causing severe concussion of the lira in. At a late hour last evening 1 the unfortunate man was reported to be in a critical condition.
