A DANGEROUS THOROUGHFARE
Hardly a day passes but an accident occurs in the chief thoroughfare of Ma-bterton. Fortunately non° of he accidents have, so far, been attended with serious consequences. One of these days, however, there wil- bo a calamity, and then the Borough Council may be moved to take action in the matter. The surface of the thoroughfare- is so slippery, and the gradient so severe, tlrat horse traffic is positively dangerous to life and I'mb. Temporary relief might be afforded by giving the «treet a coating of sand and tar. But, if a permanent job .is to bo made of the thoroughfare, the camber will have to be materially reduced. The new Council should lose no time in obtaining a report from its engineer, and in doing .something to minimise the-ri.sk of accident.
