AN EDITOR FINED. AXD SENT TO PRISON. (Received April 30, 11 a.m. PORT DaRAVIN, April 30. Mr KirkUuui, editor and proprietor of the Northern 1 erritory Times, was lined £ LOO on charges of scandalising a Judge and prejudicing a public case that was still pending. The alleged contempt of Court was contained in an l article commenting oil a trial in which a public official had been acquitted, and in which defendant accused tile Judge of bias. Mr Kirkland refused to pay' the fine and was sent to prison. A public subscription was started and realised the amount necessary to secure his release.
