SPLENDID RECEPTION AT QUEBEC. STIRRING SPEECH ON DEFENCE. (Received Last Nigjht 11.30 o'clock.) QUEBEC, April 30. The Hon. Jas. Allen had a splendid reception. He was entertained by tho Canadian Club, the Lieut.-Governor and the Mayor being present. Mr Allen made a stirring speech on defence, stating that New Zealand placed the question above party. Dismissing Empire defence in the Pacific, Mr Allen asked! whether Canada was going to stand by New Zealand and Australia and endeavour to solve the problem. The question must be answered sooner or later.
