THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
TO-DAY'S POLL. 'The election of nine Councillors for the Borough of Masterton takes place to-day. The polling hours are between nine o'clock in the morning and seven o'clock in theyevening. The polling-booths are situated at the Drill Hall at Masterton and the Public Hall at Kuripuni. Only those whose names appear upon the electors' roll are entitled to vote. Voters must not record their votes for more thai) nine ca-ndidates, but may vote for any lesser number that they think fit. Electors are required to record their preference by putting an X opposite the names of the candidates for whom they desire to vote. As there is likely to be a heavy poll, burgesses would do well to record their votes at as early an hour as possible. The Masterton Retailers' Association, in an announcement on our front page to-day, urge electors to vote only for those candidates who are in favour of retaining Thursday as the half-holiday. They point out that the Council may, in January next, without a poll, fix Saturday as the half-holiday.
