ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph. — Tress Association.) ... - AUCKLAND, Last Night, H.M.S. New Zealand arrived at 1.45 to-day, and met with nn enthusiastic reception. The weather was beautifully fine, and the harbour presented a gay spectacle. A large number of launches, yachts ar.d other .small craft turned out to meet the battleship. The city is crowded with people, and a general half-holiday was observed. 'When the ship enme to anchor she was hoarded by a number of naval veterans, who -wore the first to be received on board. Capt. Halsey and other officers landed, and were tendered a reception at the wharf by the.Port authorities.. They then drove to the Town Hall, whore they were officially received by the Mayor and councillors. The Hons. W. F. Massey and H. D. IMI were also present. The town is gaily decorated; flags and bunting are on many public buildings. The.harbour foreshore is brilliantly illuminated tonight, the effect being beautiful.
