WHAT NOT TO SHOOT. A s there appears to be a general impression in the public mind that the forthcoming game-shooting season in the Wellington Acclimatisation Society's district will he an open one for all kinds of game, the 'Secretary of the Society states that the position in hi.s society's district is as follows: —Cock pheasants, quail and hares may he shot by anyone holding a, one pound license, from May 1 to July 31, 1913. Wilcl duck and swan may be shot from June 2 to June 30, 1913, without a license. Pukeko may only he shot from June 2 to June 30, 1913, in a special area at-Foxton and Shannon proclaimed for the purpose. Pukeko may not he shot anywhere in the Wairarapa district. Pigeon s are absolutely protected throughout the whole district. Owrers of land may only shoot wild duck and swan on their property from June 2 to June 30, 1913, The"season of 1913 is a close season undo- the Act, and the Government has granted the above concessions on petition from the local society. The council of the Wellington Society to prosecute all persons found slooting native, game in M>y or July, either on their own property or on that of other people.
