THE EMPLOYERS' FEDERATION.
The second manifesto that has been issued by the Employers' Federation, a precis of which is published in our columns this morning, is a stirring appeal to those who are engaged in industrial pursuits in the Dominion. The conclusions arrived at may not be entirely justified by the progress of recent events. Still, one cannot close his eyes to the fact that the Socialistic element in the community is making a desperate effort to arrange the forces of the employed against the employer, and that unless the honest worker and the honest employer are brought more closely together, a social cataclysm may result. Industrial warfare is almost as devastating in its effects as national warfare, and every man who has the welfare of his fellows at heart will strive to avoid it. Whilst it is that combination should b e met by combination, it is of the profoundest importance that inflammatory methods should be avoided, and that conciliatory measures should, as far as possible, be employed.
