PAHIATUA STOCK SALE.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows: We offered on the 22nd inst. a good yarding of sheep and-an extra heavy yarding of cattle, well over advertised numbers close on .1000 head being yarded. The main.feature of the cattle were the bullocks, mostly 3£ year olds, of which there were over 400, a large portion being nice quality and good conditioned stuff. This class /met strong competition and made excellent values, Mr TX W. Allen topping the market, with £7 lis. Bullocks lacking in condition did not meet such good inquiry, although Mrs Burling's sold' well, both the Polled Angus- and Hereford Cross cattle making £6 10s, the quality no doubt accounting for the prices. All classes were represented, and there was a good allround demand, especially for good sorts of young cattle, and we have to report a highly satisfactory clearance. The attendance was exceptionally large, Wairarapa and Manawatu buyers being in strong evidence, taking the bulk of the grown cattle. A full clearance was made in the sheep, values showing an advance of late rates. Quotations: Fat bullocks £lO, good forward conditioned do £6 10s, £6 12s 6d to £7 lis, good 3} year
