There will bo. racing at Tiniaru today and to-morrow, a.ud at Opaki tomorrow and Friday. , Acceptance's for the Marlborough, Club's Autumn meeting close with the secretary, Mr L. Griffiths, Blenheim*, this l evening. Nominations for the Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter meeting close on Friday. | There was not a great deal of interesting work at Opaki yesterday morning, although several trainers gave their charges fast work. Alecto was sent out and brushed over five furlongs, going nicely. The Sir Laddo mare still shows signs of soreness. j Boronia, who appears to ho very well, galloped four furlongs pleasingly. Sir Knox had Montreal for a companion over nine furlongs on the plough, the former finishing in front. The big chestnut looks very well, and no doubt will'start a warm favourite in to-morrow's race. Conquest, who arrived from Auckland on Monday, was up on Sir Knox. .Glenfern, Overrate and Miriam went six furlongs together, and finished in that order, the gallop being the best of the morning. The West Coaster is very well, and may be ticked off to run prominently at the meeting. He is Engaged in two events to-morrow. Mi as Vera and Poro sprinted five furlongs from the barrier, finishing together. ' Manitau, Operation, Conziska, Top Note, Otter, Grandee and Sylvan Glade and a number of others did useful work. i A large number of visiting horses are expected to arrive to-day. | Box accommodation has been engaged for some eighty horses, which points to a highly successful meeting. Ascalon is an. unlikely starter at the meeting, owing to having struck himself. I Sailor King and Berg have been scratched for the Maiden, and Elevated for the Masterton Hack. i C. Tvmmerson and J. O'Shea. arrived on Monday evening, and were on the tracks at Opaki yesterday. i Mon Ami and Blue Lake are at present favourite selections for the April Handicap, in which Leapuki will also be well supported. • Mr A. Hathaway, secretary of the Masterton Racing Club, has been very busy during the past week, and has had quite a large s-taff engaged in making arrangements for the meeting. All the appointments at. Opaki are very complete and up-to-date, and the public have been well provided for. An efficient staff, under the management of Mr Baguell, of Palmerston North, will conduct the totalisator business, in which a number of important improvements have been effoot.d. 'Die railway time-table is very conveniently arranged. Wellington sports may make the journey to and from Opaki on the same day, while two trains will he run conveniently from Masterton to Opaki. The usual number of motors, drags and other conveyances will also be available. Mr McMahorr, Stipendiary Steward, will be present at Opaki on both days. Mr J. B-. Re id- has sold the two-, year-old filly Bradamante (Charle-' rnagne ll.—Hamattan) to.a Taranaki sportsman. Bobrikoff has blistered and turned out for a well-earned spell. He will not be asked to race again until the spring. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference will take place in Wellington next July. Notices of motion must be received not later than June 14th. Ventura is now turned out for a two-months' .spell. It is reported that she will be sent across to Sydney to be prepared for the big meetings in the spring. The Rover has been purchased by l G. Delaney, who is now in Australia, j and who was presumably acting for an owner on the other side. The Advance gelding will shortly be shipped across to Sydney. Several would-be purchaser* have been after the Wa.iriki gelding Phosphorus, owned in Auckland, but his owner will not put a price on him. There is some talk of Phosphorus being taken to Sydney after the A.R.C. winter meeting.
