THE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The fact that six young business men of Mjasterton, who have hitherto taken no part in municipal affairs, are offering their services to the borough in the coming election, is gratifying evidence of renewed civic vitality. In recent years there has been a disposition on the part of business men to allow local government elections to go by default. Tha?t this has been derogatory to the town, goes without saying.* The material advancement of all communities depends in a large measure upon the enterprise of its public men. It is with no desire to discount the efforts of old Councillors that we welcome young and progressive candidates for municipal honours. Before the date of the election we shall refc-r in detail to the qualifications of the various aspirants for seats on tne Council. In the meantime we congratulate the burgesses upon uie distinct awakening in local government affairs.
