OLD SHOW-GROUNDS.
In a recent conversation with the editor of the Age, one of the syndicate owning the old show-grounds at Ma-storton. stated that he wm prepared to donate his interest in the grounds to the borough, and he believed others could be induced to do likewise . This is a matter of very givat concern to Masterton, and we would suggest that the in-corning Borough Council take immediate steps to ascertain on what terms the grounds could bo acquired. The old show-grounds could be converted into a domain which would be one of the best assets the town possesses. The public-spiritednesg of the gentleman who has made the offer cannot be too warmly comtnended, and if the example he has sot is followed by others, posterity will be grateful. When the .proper time arrives, we are prepared to communicate to His Worship the Mayor the name of the gentleman who has- made' the offer.
