MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.

. ANNUAL REPORT. The following report was presented at the annual meeting of the Masterton Miniature Rifle Club on Thursday evening:— ."In presenting the annUal report and balance-sheet for 1912, your committee desires to congratulate members on having once again carried the affairs of the Club through a successful season. "Balance-Sheet.—You will notice, as per balance-sheet, that our credit has been reduced to a low ebb, viz.,, although the receipts for the season have been equally as good as 1911. 'This, we mainly attribute to the necessity of procuring new rifles, which cost, the club no less a .sum than £9 10s each. The assets- over liabilities are £7 3s 3d, which may be considered substantial. Your .committee feels that you will not sum up the finances with, dissatisfaction, and they consider the prospects for the coming season are good, and have not the slightest fear that even w.ith the Mine membership, showing a fair average on shooting nights, we'will bo able to show a substantial credit at tlie end of season 1913. "Membership.—Jt is gratifying bo note tliat the membership (2(5) shows no falling off a,s compared with 191.1, but it Is sincerely Ijoped that an effort will bo made to increase the same. "Matches.- The Club contested two matches, both being . against Mauriceville, and, it is pleasing to be able to record a win on both occasions. These matches not only provided a splendid evening's sport for those who took part in them, but brougtih about extended friendship which should exist w.ith all branches of the sport. It is hoped that the incoming committees will find fresh fields, so that we may be able to try conclusions with the rifle.

"Club Competitions.—Having passed through the first year with the •Miniature Rifle, it is gratifying to record that they have given thorough satisfaction. The interest and also the high standard of the shooting must be accredited to the Miniature Rifle. "Your committee considers it will he advisable for you to adopt a bull's eve, or the alternative is, the miniature target. "The Brighton Cup was won by Mr J. Puller with a. grand aggregate of 209. out of a possible aggregate of 210. This performance must be considered exceptional shooting, whv.h not only reflects groat credit on Mr Fuller himself, hut also on the club. "The B Class Championship ..wont to Mr A. Miller, and his performance, especially as a young shot, will be hard to beat. "The 'Leg-in' competition was won by Mi' H. R. Kino; in A. Class and Mr M. Can* in 8.. both of which were verv creditable performances. "Smoke Concert. —The annual smoke concert took place in September, when a most enjoyable evening was spent. Among the visitors present were Messrs Rose and Milton, of the Maiiriceville Morris Tube Club, both of whom we were pleased to see. Mr 0. Pragnell, our worthy Pre.-:i-jdent, presided, and presented the prize.® to the successful winners. Our very best thanks are due to the singers, whose talent was a feature of .the evening. "Thanks. —Your committee desire to thank the press, through whose columns the results of our shooting have been cirried to interested people both far and near: to the, donors of trophies, we specially thank,, because it is through ..their liberality that our competitions became keen, and wo were able to extend our prize list. "In conclusion, we trust that ibecoming season will be more successful than the past, and even* assistance will be given' to the incoming committee for season 1913."
