SURE FOR GRAVEL AND STONE. When there is a sediment like "brickdust in the urine it is an indication that the kidneys are not doing their work properly, and immediate steps ihould be taken to restore their healthy iction. If this precaution is neglected, the particles may gradually become arger, and the miserable suffering cauajd by Gravel or Stone result. Stones are usually formed in the Sidneys, and descend thence into the oladder. They are composed of uric icid, or of oxalate of lime—solid matI ;er which should be held in solution j n the fluids of the body, and be passed >Xf in a dissolved condition in the urine. Uric acid stone is by far the commonist kind. When a stone is formed in a kidney, rreat pain in the loins is felt, and tb.it aecomes agonising when the stone 1 >eaves the and passes through we of the narrow channels leading t« ;he bladder. The pain then experi:nred is known as Kidney Colic. It :eases when the stone reaches the bladler. Once in the bladder, the stone may jo passed off with the urine, or it may emain and become larger by the acemulation ol deposits. Sometimes a itone will form in the bladder by fchi limple gathering together of particlei if gravel. Persons of all ages may suffer from itone or gravel. Even little children sre not exempt. $ When a stone, formed in the kidneys, s too large to pass through the passage leading to the bladder, the pat*age becomes closed, dropsy sets in, nd the patient may die in a few •ours. When stones remain long in the blad ler they grow to a great size, some•mes as large as an orange, and thej equently have to be cut out. The rational method of treatment s to correct the action of the kidneys, hereby removing the cause. In a lealthy condition of the kidneys and irinary system the water holds thi lolids in solution unt.il it escapes front .he body. In' disease the solids are de josited in the kidneys and bladder. From Mr. Hans Nilsen. 207. Miller street, North Sydney, N.S.W., 19tl October, 1911. "For years I suffered very severel) ' :rom my kidneys. I had excruciating lain in the back and in my sides.
