CARTERTON NEWS.
Mr J. M. Lightfoot, local manager of the branch of the. Bank of New Soutli Wales, leaves here in the course of a few tay s on a two months' holiday trip to Australia. He will be accompanied by Mrs and Miss Lightfoot. On Monday evening an "At Home" was held at the residence of Mrs. A. King, "Rexford," Carterton, to afford a pleasant evening to St. Mark's Choir, and to say farewell to Miss Carson, who is leaving for Taihape. During the evening, which was spent with music and song. Mr J. J. Mead, on behalf of the choir, presented Miss Carson with a pair of handsome sterling candle-st"icks as a token of esteem and remembrance. The Rev. H. T, and Mrs Stealey, who have been in charge of the Native College at Clareville for some time past, were presented with a beautiful silver-mounted oak salad bowl and servers, suitably engraved, prior to leaving the college to take charge of the Levin parish.
